We are a community of Intellectually challenged young girls/women, their mothers, our trainers and friends, passionately involved in natural dyeing.
We are reviving a forgotten art, spreading the vibrant colours of nature to the community, encouraging sustainablealternatives and building an inclusive community and … friendships!!!
LIFE SKILL
Bhoomika is an activity centre and day care centre for intellectually challenged young women/girs, focussing on basic life skills and social skills and our activities include self care training, drawing, Music, Yoga, games and regular outings.

Bhoomika is a skill training and livelihood initiative of People’s Education for Action (PEAL) with special focus on women with special needs. Bhoomika is a creative space where these young girls and women are safe, learn basic life skills, and strive to live with dignity and respect.
HISTORY
Founded in 1974, People’s Education for Action and Liberation (PEAL) is a registered society in Tamil Nadu with the core principles revolving around environmental sustainability and education, welfare of women and the intellectually challenged and upliftment of the marginalized communities.
PEAL has been actively engaged with vulnerable groups in Tamil Nadu over a period of four decades, including farmers, weavers, fisherpeople, gem cutters, palmyrah workers, Dalit concerns and women.
In 2018, the organization initiated the Bhoomika program, specifically designed for the welfare of intellectually challenged women, marking a significant step towards inclusivity and community empowerment. PEAL's enduring commitment to sustainable livelihoods and gender equity underscores its continuous efforts to foster positive change.
Notably, since 2008, PEAL shifted its focus to address pressing environmental and climate change issues, along with promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
